[Auto] Ariel Hipercar is a mini electric Batmobile with more than 1,000 Hp

Ariel, the English firm that created the Ace, Atom and also its off-road version, the Nomad, have released their first model in quite some time, which for now we will know as Hipercar (which also means High-Performance Carbon Reduction). And what is the hypercar? Due to its design, it looks like a car taken from Cyberpunk 2077 or a kind of miniature Batmobile, full of spoilers, air intakes and of course everything made of carbon fiber. It's an oddball that looks like a cross between a Group B rally car and a fighter jet.

But underneath all this fancy architecture lies the magic, because you won't see a Honda engine here like in previous Ariels. This is an electric car and a very powerful one, which combines four independent 285 Hp and 332 lb-ft motors (manufactured by Equipmake), with a 62 kWh battery and an 800 volt system. The result? 1,185 Hp and 1,328 torque.

With this, the new Hipercar reaches 100 km/h in less than 2.5 seconds. But there is another figure that is also surprising, what it takes to recover from 60 to 120 miles, which is something like between 100 and 200 km/h (97 to 193 km/h, to be exact): just 3.51 seconds. In other words, as if to recommend not eating anything before handling it.

The only problem is that the autonomy is not very good, let's say only 241 kilometers. Of course, here comes the second Hipercar gadget, a "mini-jet" manufactured by Cosworth that generates 47 Hp and that will serve to extend the range of this car. In addition, according to the brand, this turbine could work with hydrogen.

Just in case, its dimensions are 4.29 meters long, with 2.68 meters between axes and a height of just 1.35 meters. According to Autocar colleagues, it is almost 10 centimeters smaller than a BMW Z4.
 

For now the car is still in evaluations, but without a doubt, it will be a little beast. What remains for the brand, apart from defining the final name, the interior and the final details of this car, is to see how to make the Hipercar have the same dynamism as the Atom, because this car weighs a ton more, that is 1.5 tons. Aluminum chassis, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, coilovers, AP brakes and more will come into play here.

The final version of this model should reach the market during 2025, with a price of 840 thousand dollars. A single-wheel drive version will also be developed, which is sure to be crazy, no matter how less powerful it is.
