[News] Fire in Mexico: when migrants do not matter, but keep them away

In Mexico, 39 people died in a fire inside a migrant detention center. While the president of that country blamed the victims for his own death, experts explained to this newspaper the problems with most of the measures adopted by the region in this matter.

In June 2022, the Summit of the Americas was held, which resulted in the Los Angeles Declaration, in which, with a perspective of "co-responsibility", some twenty countries in the region committed themselves, among other things, to to give more alternatives for “regular” migration. More than two weeks later, 53 people died victims of migrant smuggling in a truck that was found in San Antonio (Texas), in the United States.
