It is not a store that I use, so we did not give it much importance, until we set up a budget on AliExpress. Within this store we have found a large number of fake M.2 SSDs and DDR4 RAM memories that, in some cases, appear to be 100% original. It does not mean that all products sold on AliExpress are fake. Remember that Amazon recently pursued reviews purchased on countless products that appear listed in the store. A well-known practice, but one that is difficult to pursue. Something similar happens in AliExpress, where anyone can upload products and chasing counterfeits is not easy. Samsung and Kingston, the brands most affected by counterfeits The first thing we have detected is that the counterfeits are from RAM memories and M.2 SSDs without a heatsink. We have realized that all are products that carry the typical sticker on the memories, without more. In addition, I have seen that the most affected brands are Kingston and Samsung, but I have also seen products from Western Digital (WD) and XPG. We will go shelling case by case and showing the different aspects that have revealed the forgery Kingston Fury RAM Memory The first product is DDR4 RAM memories in SO-DIMM format that imitate the Kingston FURY Impact. It is striking how well done the counterfeiting of this product is. Although there are two main aspects that give it away: the sticker is smaller and the brand name (Kingston) does not appear anywhere. More subtle is the design of the PCB, if you look at the right side, you will see that in the fake one there are some resistors that do not appear in the model on the right. Note that the one we have classified as false is the first design of the brand.
