Is your iPhone charging slowly after updating to iOS 16.1 / iOS 16.3? You might want to turn off the Clean Energy Charging feature.

Fix the recent slow iPhone charging issue by simply turning off the ‘Clean Energy Charging’ toggle switch from settings
It's no secret that Apple loves the environment and wants to do everything possible to make its carbon footprint smaller. With iOS 16.1 for iPhone, Apple wants users to play their part in this as well by introducing a feature called Clean Energy Charging.

The way this feature works is actually quite simple - whenever you plug in your iPhone for charging, it will only add power to the iPhone as long as the grid is supplying clean energy to your location with a smaller footprint. This also means your iPhone may end up charging slowly while it waits for clean energy in the grid.

Interestingly, that is exactly the case, and a lot of users have started complaining on different forums and sites that their iPhone charging speeds have significantly dropped lately. How did they fix it? By turning off the Clean Energy Charging feature. If your iPhone has started to charge slow lately despite having a fast charging setup - usually a USB-C to Lightning cable with a 20W adapter - then congratulations, you’ve been selected to protect the Earth and become its savior.

However, you can turn this feature off in order to charge up your iPhone at full speed. Simply follow the steps below, and you’ll be back to how things were before this feature was introduced.

Tutorial

Step 1. Launch the Settings app.

Step 2. Scroll down and tap on Battery.

Step 3. Now tap on Battery Health.

Step 4. Scroll all the way down and turn off the Clean Energy Charging toggle switch, as shown in the screenshot below:

While this is a great way to bring charging speeds back to normal, do keep in mind that it may increase your carbon footprint. But then again, many people out there may not even care about this thing at all.

Which side you end up choosing is entirely up to you.
