Sasuke™
It is rumored that Mercedes could abandon its EQ badge, reserved for zero-emission models. Which ultimately comes as no surprise when you know the manufacturer's plans for the years to come. Not content with having been the very first 100% electric model from Mercedes when it was released in 2019, the EQC was also distinguished by its name. In its name, we find the letter "C", meaning that it is, despite its size (4.80 m, not much smaller than a GLE), the zero-emission derivative of the GLC. But above all it bears the EQ label (for “electric quotient”, quotient or electrical intelligence in French) which is now found on all models: EQS and EQS SUV, EQE and EQE SUV, EQA or even EQB. Two letters to which we have become accustomed but which could well disappear as soon as 2024 according to an indiscretion of our German colleagues from the Handelsblatt . And if we tell you that we expected it a little? The Etoile brand had set itself the goal of having a wattage model by category by 2025, we are almost there. We have already mentioned a large number of them, we could add the EQT and EQV utilities. Finally, there will soon be the EQG, a zero-emission variant of the famous but not very widespread “Geländewagen” (“all-terrain” in Goethe's language, it's the G-Class, if you prefer). All with the aim of only offering zero-emission cars for sale from 2030. It is for this reason that the current CEO, Ola Källenius, would purely and simply consider removing the badge. After all, when the whole range “runs” on electricity, this marker, which made it possible to differentiate the thermals from the electrics that was the EQ badge, will no longer be used for anything. We would not be surprised to see the arrival of Class C, Class E and other 100% electric Class S in the coming years.
