From the prosecutor's office they indicated that the reason for the shot would have been a road discussion and not a trap, as the uniformed man argued in the first instance.

The Puente Alto Guarantee Court ordered preventive detention for the carabinero accused of killing a young man with his service weapon in Puente Alto, Metropolitan region.

During the formalization hearing, held this Sunday afternoon, the court accepted the request made by the Public Ministry, who points to the uniformed officer as the flagrant perpetrator of the crime of consummated homicide.

Although at first it was indicated that it was a trap, this version was dismissed during the hearing, since as stated by the prosecutor Juan Cheuquiante, of the South Metropolitan Prosecutor's Office, "after a discussion of an automobile nature, a fight between the victim and the accused".

"It is at that moment that this former uniformed man extracts a pistol-type firearm, shooting the victim in his chest area," added the persecutor, discarding the defendant's version. The defendant was discharged from the institution and will be transferred to the Pudahuel Norte detention center.

 

 

Meanwhile, the court established a period of 150 days for the investigation to end. It should be noted that the event occurred during the afternoon of this Saturday, while the uniformed man was on duty and allegedly suffered a trap, a context in which he used a firearm to defend himself.

This first version of the event was contradicted by the family of the deceased, who through a video from a security camera would have managed to demonstrate that there was an argument and a subsequent fight, which is why there could be no question of legitimate defense. After the Homicide Brigade of the Investigative Police carried out the proceedings in the place, it was possible to establish that the perpetrator had not acted in self-defense and therefore, would have committed a homicide. As a result of this, the Public Ministry gave the order to arrest the carabinero.
