It already has more than 19 thousand signatures to demand from Congress a project that allows psychiatric service animals and emotional support in places like the Metro, buses and supermarkets.

The claim of a woman, who could not get on a Transantiago bus with her emotional support dog, went viral on TikTok, where she seeks to raise awareness about psychiatric assistance animals and even calls for a law for it.

The Santiago public transport user pointed out that she lives these situations every day with Dalgi, hers a puppy that was trained by her to help her calm down, because she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and panic attacks.

Through the Change.org online petition site, he demands a law from Congress that allows animals to provide psychiatric accompaniment services to their humans, which he proposed as the "Dalgi Law." In this sense, he seeks that these companions can participate in activities of daily life such as going to the supermarket, taking the bus or the Metro.

"Unfortunately in Chile there are only assistance dogs for people with physical disabilities, not psychiatric ones," he laments in the application that already has more than 19,000 signatures.

Catalina Trujillo, Dalgi's mistress, has been on this crusade for several months and, for now, has met with deputy Lorena Fries (Ind.), in addition to talking with advisers to deputies Emilia Schneider (Comunes), Marta Gonzalez (Ind. . PPD) and Consuelo Veloso (RD).

"Soon we will meet with Deputy Claudia Mix (Comunes) who is also interested in improving mental health in the country. I am very happy with how progress is being made, this will help many people who, like me, need dogs like Dalgi," he reflects. Trujillo.

In the country, only Law 25,025 exists in these matters, which establishes the right for all persons with disabilities to be "permanently accompanied by an assistance dog, to any building, construction, infrastructure or space for public use, whether privately owned or public", at the same time that it allows them to "access and circulate in any means of land or maritime passenger transport".
