The Sociocultural Coordinator of the Presidency, Irina Karamanos, announced this Thursday the definitive closure of that position on December 31, after the administrative transfer of the foundations under her responsibility to various ministries linked to her tasks was completed. In this way, the couple of President Gabriel Boric assured that as of that date, there will no longer be a team of direct advisers to the figure of the first lady and the space assigned to her and her team inside the Palace of The coin.

Karamanos released the information during an activity held at the Sound Museum in Santiago, in which he took stock of his management accompanied by the President and the Ministers of Women, Culture and Science, in addition to the Minister of Education. In this context, she highlighted the completion of the approval process of the statutory modifications of the Integra, Prodemu, Tiempos Nuevos (MIM), Chilenter, Artesanías de Chile and FOJI foundations, which will allow them to be linked strategically with those portfolios.

 

 

In this way, the presidency of the boards of these entities will be appointed by the secretaries of state and not by the head of state, who traditionally appointed his spouse as head of those institutions that were created in recent decades. In this regard, Karamanos stressed that now begins "a new stage, where with a different role we will be able to continue advancing with the personal development and autonomy of each one of us. It is a stage that makes me proud in the sense of being able to innovate the look you can have of a presidential couple".

Along these lines, he highlighted the change that in his opinion will occur in "the stereotypes culturally associated with this role of first ladies, with which we are very committed to moving forward. I, of course, supporting the Government and the President". Then, she offered the floor to Boric, who indicated that "what we just heard in the words of Irina is the fulfillment of a commitment that we made as a Government when we took office and from my perspective, this is an important advance." "It has to do above all with how we conceive the role of the State and the importance of modernizing the institutions and adapting them to the current times. The best way to take care of our institutions is precisely by questioning and improving them," she added. Along these lines, he assured that "this also complies with the commitment to build a State that is more modern, innovative, efficient, agile. In addition, I believe that it raises the standard for all of us in the State regarding many transformations that we have to carry out" .
