n an icy track in northern Sweden , a BMW has been spotted that appears to be the next generation of the all-electric X2. The entry level crossover of the Munich house, the X1 and the X2 coupé version, are a commercial success to date and for this reason, the German house released the third generation of the X1 last June. According to the latest rumors , it seems that BMW is working on the next generation of the X2, identified with the code name " U10 ". The car is expected to arrive for 2024 and according to the latest rumors, production of the coupe crossover is expected to start in November 2023 . The new X2 will likely share the same front-wheel drive platform with other compact models from the house. Unlike Mercedes , which builds EV and ICE models with separate platforms, BMW appears to prefer an architecture that accommodates different powertrain types. As for engines , the X2 will “borrow ” the full engine roster of the X1 2023 and also that of the X2 M35i, a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine capable of delivering just over 300bhp . Finally, BMW is expected to bring an electric version called the iX2 to market . The latter will probably be offered in two versions: the eDrive20 version with a single motor and the xDrive30 dual motor version .
