FNX Magokiler
Just a few hours have passed since we told you that Toyota is working on the development of a Hilux with a hydrogen drive system, in what is nothing more than the continuity of the brand's work with the mineral. Currently, the Japanese firm uses hydrogen in two ways: one, through a fuel cell system to move cars like the Mirai, and that it will apply to the aforementioned Hilux; another, using it as fuel for a combustion engine. Toyota decided to include another of its current models in testing with the H2. We are talking about the Corolla Cross, an SUV that we know well in Chile since it is one of the best sellers of the year. Toyota Corolla Cross H2 Concept: Main Features The Corolla Cross H2 Concept is the result of a series of developments carried out by Toyota in the world of motorsports, according to the brand itself. Specifically, he participated in the Japanese Super Taikyu category, specialized in resistance competitions. With none other than Akio Toyoda, president of the brand, at the wheel of a GR Corolla H2, the automaker dedicated itself to improving the power (it did so by 24%) and the torque (33%) of the hydrogen-powered combustion engine , as well as its autonomy (30%) and the refueling time (from five minutes to a minute and a half). Toyota turned the experience gathered on the track in the Corolla Cross H2 Concept, and it did so using the same engine, that is to say a 1.6 Turbo 3-cylinder and 12-valve, which has high-pressure direct hydrogen injection. Said impeller, based on the original of the GR Yaris, also equipped the hydrogen variant of the hot hatch. The brand did not disclose details about the engine's performance, but, taking into account the work done, it should deliver more than the 261 Hp and 360 Nm of torque that it had in the GR Yaris H2. For the inclusion of the aforementioned motor system in the prototype, Toyota not only recovered what happened in the Japanese racetracks, but also certain details of the Mirai, such as the arrangement of the hydrogen tanks. For now, Toyota is carrying out various tests, and hopes to test the vehicle in the coming months, more precisely in northern Japan. Although the brand itself states that it does not know if this type of powertrain will ever be marketed, it maintains that it has already traveled "40%" of the necessary path to put units such as the Corolla Cross H2 Concept on the market. https://noticias.autocosmos.cl/2022/12/09/toyota-insiste-con-el-hidrogeno-y-ahora-lo-prueba-en-un-corolla-cross
