[Curiosities] Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi: We Will Do Our Best in Qatar World Cup

Rabat- Moroccan international footballer Achraf Hakimi promised that the Atlas Lions will do their best during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

“We are young people with ambition, and we want to do great things together and do our best for our country,” Hakimi said.

The Paris-Saint Germain (PSG) key player explained that the Moroccan national team is now setting an objective to pass the first round and “then move forward step by step.”

Commenting on his participation in the World Cup along with the Atlas Lions, Hakimi said that this moment carries “a special feeling always.”

“This year, after my participation in Russia, I am going with the responsibility to represent the hopes of many people. I am very thirsty and ambitious after having experienced the first World Cup,” he stated.

In addition to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Hakimi was among the lineup that traveled to Russia to participate in the 2018 World Cup.

Hakimi gained po[CENSORED]rity thanks to his high speed and impressive performances he made for other football clubs and PSG.

Born in Madrid to a Moroccan couple, the football player began his senior professional career with football club Real Madrid in 2016.

Hakimi also played for Germany’s Borussia Dortmund and Inter Milan before moving to PSG.

The  World Cup draw placed Morocco in Group F with Croatia, Belgium, and Canada. Morocco’s squad will play against Croatia on November 23, while the match against Belgium will take place on November 27. December 1 will mark Morocco’s final match in the group stage against Canada.

Prior to the World Cup, Morocco will play against Georgia on Thursday as part of the team’s preparations ahead of the world tournament. The match will take place in the UAE.

Tuesday marked the first preparatory training session for the Atlas Lions.
