Amaterasu イタチ Posted October 29, 2022 Posted October 29, 2022 By now, chances are you've Dwayne Johnson's turn as Black Adam on the big screen, opening up a new corner of the DC movie universe--and the return of the world's most famous superhero for the first time since Justice League. There's plenty more to discuss about the Blck Adam movie, though. For instance, what's to come for Dr. Fate (Pierce Brosnan), after finally making his big screen debut? Warning: The following contains spoilers for Black Adam. If you haven't seen the movie yet, go check it out then come back.Of course, in the climactic battle, Dr. Fate sacrifices himself, saving Hawkman (Aldis Hodge) from having to die as Fate previously saw happening in the future. Is he actually dead, though? According to Brosnan, himself, he has the same question. "We don't know," he admitted. "I said the same thing when I read the script, but who knows? It's all a mystery." While it will likely remain a mystery for some time to come, it's not as if it would be the first time a death didn't stick in a comic book movie. Even Superman died in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice--and he's not even a wizard. Meanwhile, "[Fate] was the greatest sorcerer that has ever manifested himself in the comic book world," Brosnan said. Whatever the case, the actor is deeply thankful for getting to participate in Black Adam, adding, "This is definitely the most beautiful film that I've been part of for a long time. It really is. And the camaraderie and the sentiment of all the actors and the hard work that I saw unfold every day was bedazzling." Interestingly, though, there was a different version of the movie at one point, at least at the script stage. According to Hodge, there was a version of Black Adam that spent even more time developing the relationship between Hawkman and Dr. Fate. "It was about the values of what it was supposed to represent," Hodge said. "So [director Jaume Collet-Serra] really wanted to push into more of that relationship being on screen when they saw you." As it stands, the final version of the movie makes it absolutely clear that Fate and Hawkman have a deeply linked past as two longtime members of the Justice Society. That said, why not give us a prequel about the early days of their team? Black Adam is in theaters now. The products discussed here were independently chosen by our editors. Things are again moved around in the now ever-shifting world of Warner Bros. Discovery as Greg Berlanti's longtime in-development Green Lantern series at HBO will now be redeveloped. Originally set to focus on two Green Lanterns, Alan Scott and Guy Gardner, played respectively by Jeremy Irvine and Finn Wittrock, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that the series will now shine an emerald spotlight on fan-favorite John Stewart. Sources told THR that Stewart, who grew into prominence in the early 1970s and was featured in the Justice League animated series, was originally off the table. Former DC film spearheader Zack Snyder once had his own plans for the character with actor Wayne T. Carr suiting up in the role. Stewart was also recently featured in his own animated movie, voiced by Aldis Hodge, who can now be seen as Hawkman in Black Adam. As part of this overhaul, showrunner Seth Grahame-Smith has now departed the series. He had completed scripts for a full season of eight episodes and chose to leave the project after the constant number of regime changes at HBO Max. With former DC Film president Walter Hamada's exit and the rebranding of DC Studios, a decision was made to start over and build the show around Stewart. When HBO Max announced plans for Green Lantern in October 2019, Berlanti described it at the time as the "biggest DC show ever made." In the comics, John Stewart is a US Marine veteran and engineer who gets his ring as part of being a substitute for Hal Jordan's backup, the aforementioned Guy Gardner, who is injured. He becomes a longstanding member of the Green Lantern Corps. as well as many incarnations of the Justice League. The products discussed here were independently chosen by our editors.
