I have to do what I have to do, I'm going to investigate what happened to my son. They buried me alive, they killed my youngest child." With that firm sentence but full of pain, Angie Carolina Beltrán Cetina denounced the disappearance of her son Javier Steven Sánchez Beltrán, dragoonist of the National Army, last Tuesday, August 17, 2021 and the subsequent discovery of his body on September 4 of 2021.

He was an active soldier at the Logistics School of the National Army, located at Calle 11 Sur No 12-95 Este, in San Cristóbal Sur. “We live nearby. My son was single, he was 19 years old and he lived with me. He was happy, doing his military service, and had been in that activity for a year”.

He really wanted to be in the Army, it was a dream come true for this young man, he introduced himself to the ranks. He wanted to prosper in his military career and become a non-commissioned officer. “The week of his disappearance I was super happy because he told me that he had already reached antiquity. He told me that he was going to get some money and that with that he was going to buy a cell phone. He was happy, he told me beautiful mommy, I love you.

For this reason, this mother of a family was absolutely confused when they called her on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 to tell her that her son had deserted from the Army. “That was impossible. He loved the battalion."

The explanation they gave him was that on the night of August 16, 2021, the young man had been on duty from 7 to 10 at night, that he then borrowed a cell phone from a colleague, made a call and left without leave a trace “Supposedly he had disappeared and the next day they had not found him when they did the count. It's like absurd. I found out about everything at 9 in the morning,” said the NCO's mother.

Another aspect that missed his family is that, if it were true that the young man escaped, he would have made it home, since he always had keys and was welcome at home. "He always told me: 'beautiful mommy, in six months I will know if I can continue my career as a non-commissioned officer, and if I don't get the money, then as a soldier.'"

Javier wasn't even a problem teenager. In the neighborhood, everyone loved him, he was tender and cooperative. “If he had been an undisciplined young man, well, one accepts that these things happen, but he was never that style. Everything he did, he consulted me.”

In fact, when he went out on leave he went to his house to sleep and rest, and sometimes he went out to play soccer with his friends from the neighborhood. “The last time he was there he was telling me that he wanted to take me for a ride. Everything is beautiful, my son, ”says his sorrowful mother.

Angie says that it is the responsibility of the National Army to tell her who killed her son because since it became known that his body appeared, his life has been shattered, he is even undergoing psychological treatment because many times he cannot even fall asleep. . “He was a young man who was under the care of him, the one from the Army. They have to tell me what happened to him. I did not lose a pair of shoes, a part of my flesh died, someone who came out of me. I urge that justice be done and that the prosecutor be changed because there is evidence that is very delayed.

She has spent a year and she does not know about evidence as important as the young man's shirt and what was found on the phone's sim card. “They were 20 days missing. My little son was tortured. I think about it and it affects me too much. I go to the doctor every so often, every day it hurts more. I sincerely thank those who can help me. When they take away a mother's children, they bury her alive."
