[Politics] Health reform: Government says that there are no decisions made or articulated

Mauricio Lizcano, director of the Administrative Department of the Presidency, Dapre, had to go out this Sunday to make some clarifications about the health reform that the government has announced that it will process.

Faced with the accumulation of criticism and rumors about what the Government was preparing, Lizcano had to go out and tone down the situation.

The official began by pointing out that the health reform is a topic for another year and clarified that what the Petro government has proposed "is to open an agreement on the system, being careful to always build something better."

And to be even more forceful, he assured that "there are still no decisions made" nor the articles of the project to file before Congress.

"We must be ready to give the debate on the EPS, I am ready, the EPS were created to be insurers (solid capital willing to take risk) however few fulfill that function, some used the capital to only be financial intermediaries", he stressed Lizcano.

Regarding the health reform, Minister Carolina Corcho a few days ago highlighted that it will be presented next year and that it is expected that at the end of October or the first week of November, Colombians will know about it. This in an attempt by the Government to be transparent with citizens.

Regarding intermediation in the system, the minister pointed out that β€œhealth is financed with contributions from workers and contributions from the Colombian tax budget. These resources must go directly to the hospitals, we cannot continue intermediating some resources, ”she questioned Corcho, and clarified that between 6 and 7 billion are paid for this intermediation.

"We have to make every effort to protect patients and the provision of services. We are not going to do any harm, the damage has already been done, we are going to protect and overcome issues that should not have happened in this country", explained the minister who, To conclude, he assured that "we have that commitment to change, we are not going to betray it, we are not going to betray ourselves, and we are going to do it in the best way
possible"
