  • Other Information: Nick Rotteveel (born 6 January 1989), better known by his stage name Nicky Romero, is a Dutch DJ, songwriter and record producer. He has worked with and received support from great DJ's such as Tiësto, Fedde le Grand, Sander van Doorn, David Guetta, Calvin Harris and Avicii. He currently ranks 18th in the Top 100 of DJ Magazine's annual Ranking. He is best known for his big hit "Toulouse" as well as his single "I Could Be The One" with Avicii, which reached number one in the UK charts.
  • Romero was born and raised in Amerongen, the Netherlands, moving to Kingston, Canada, where he lived for a year, and later returning to his home country to continue his studies.
  • School was never of interest to him, so soon after completing his studies, he started working as a waiter, for a while, in a bar, a place that made him wake up to the world of electronic music and to start being a DJ, it was also when he started producing music. Finally, he signed to his first label, Once Records, where he then released the tracks "Privilege" and "Qwerty". Shortly after the track titled "Funktion One" was released. From that moment on everything quickly changed. Dutch DJ and producer Madskillz signed "Funktion One" with Azucar (Madskillz and Gregor Salto's record label) in conjunction with the track "Hear My Sound". In 2009, he remixed Sidney Samson and Tony Cha Cha's track "Get on the Floor", and also bootlegged David Guetta's "When Love Takes Over". Both tracks received great publicity, which prompted Ministry of Sound to contact him to have him remix some of the label's tracks. Gradually, some videos appeared on YouTube, with several DJs playing Nicky Romero's bootleg of "When Love Takes Over". In the same year, he also remixed the Dirty South track "Alamo".
  • In 2010, Nicky came up with a new track called "My Friend" (released on Spinnin'), which features a sample of the well-known Groove Armada track of the same name. The combination of Groove Armada and Romero's innovative sound resulted in a great track. "My Friend" was performed by Tiesto, Axwell, Fedde le Grand, Sander van Doorn and many more. This track reached #4 on the Beatport main rankings, #1 on the Dance-Tunes rankings and several other famous DJ rankings. In 2011 we saw Romero release many remixes such as David Guetta's "Where The Girls At" featuring Flo Rida & Nicki Minaj, Alex Gaudino's "What A Feeling" featuring Kelly Rowland, Erick Morillo & Eddie Thoneick's "Stronger" featuring Shawnee Taylor, Eddie Thoneick's "Where Is The Love" and Ben Liebrand's "Rockin' High".
