Born and raised in London and spending part of her adolescence, more specifically from 13 to 15 years old, in Pristina, Kosovo, Lipa is highlighted to the world in 2017 with her hit "New Rules". Inspired by artists such as Madonna, Outkast, Moloko and her father Dukagjin Lipa, who grew up listening, Dua was revealed in 2015 with her hit "Be The One", and with her she brought dance music and dark pop. Her second studio album Future Nostalgia, released on March 27, 2020 through Warner Records, has sold over 2 million copies in the US alone and over 4 million copies worldwide. It contains the singles "Don't Start Now", "Physical", "Break My Heart" and "Levitating", songs that were successful worldwide. Very well received by the public and the specialized media, Future Nostalgia appeared on several best of the year lists and became the most streamed female album on Spotify of 2020, with 2,976,000,000 streams. The album currently has over 8 billion streams on Spotify. In addition, Future Nostalgia earned Lipa 6 nominations at the Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year and Best Pop Album, winning the latter category. Dua Lipa was born in London on August 22, 1995. The daughter of Kosovar-Albanian refugee parents, her father, Dukagjin Lipa is a marketing manager and served as the lead singer of the band Oda and her mother, Anesa Lipa is a tour executive. . Her first name, Dua, is the Albanian word for love. Dua has two younger siblings, a sister named Rina Lipa and a brother named Gjin Lipa. Her parents left the city of Pristina during the Yugoslavian Civil War in the mid-1990s and took refuge in London. When Dua was born, her parents worked as waiters in bars and cafes around town. In 2008, with the Independence of Kosovo, her parents decided to return to Pristina. But, at the age of 15, Dua decided to return to London, wanting to build a music career. In 2011, she started working as a model. Dua grew up listening to her father sing, and at the age of 14, she started posting covers of some of her favorite songs on her YouTube channel. Dua interpreted songs by Canadian Nelly Furtado and American Christina Aguilera, among other artists.
