[Politics] Boric presents the Housing Emergency Plan: "It is important that it be a State policy and continue beyond us"

President Gabriel Boric presented this Sunday his Government's Housing Emergency Plan, with which they will seek to address the housing deficit facing the country, underlining the need for the initiative to be seen as a State policy that is then continued by his successor in the Executive. From the Patio de las Camelias of the Palacio de La Moneda and accompanied by the Minister of Housing, Carlos Montes, the President stressed that in his tours of the country one of the most recurrent concerns of citizens is that of housing, along with security , drought and low pensions.

"It is up to me, as surely as several of the authorities present here, to visit different places in Chile and there are themes that are repeated and that appear in each of the places where we go. Security, by the way, in many areas the problem of water, low pensions and housing is permanently present," he said. In this context, he recalled that "on Wednesday we were in Arica delivering a housing project in conjunction with the Minister of National Assets, and it is very hard to see when families are very happy, but they say they have been waiting for 12 years in housing committees.

 

 

What is 12 years, is the entire schooling of a boy or girl. "By the way, between spending that entire training period in conditions without housing or relatives, or overcrowded, directly impacts training. 12 years is too long and there are many cases that are more, so this must be seen as a policy of state," he stressed. Along these lines, Boric warned that "this is not something that one government or another can simply boast about, because it will continue beyond us. When I inaugurated the houses in Arica, we did it because of the work done by the two previous governments. "Surely, an important part of this plan will be headed by other authorities elected by the people," he stressed, along with affirming that "it is important that we lay solid foundations, that this be a State policy, that there be no improvisations, that the We're checking." The goal, in her opinion, is that "here when others arrive, we don't start from scratch and that is tremendously important."
