The deputy for the Region of La Araucanía, Miguel Becker, asked the Chamber's Defense Commission for a special session to review the reason for the constant flights between Caracas and Santiago, by a plane from the Venezuelan state airline Conviasa. The parliamentarian requested the meeting after the doubts that arose in Argentina about the presence of a plane from the same airline in Buenos Aires, which was seized with 14 crew members inside, five of whom are Iranians with alleged terrorist links and the rest appears linked to the regime of Nicolás Maduro.

The Conviasa plane that passed through Chile would have landed on June 23 in Santiago, generating various comments and concern among authorities and, particularly, parliamentarians. This is due to the judicial situation of the ship held in the neighboring country, about which there was an international alert launched by Paraguay and Uruguay. In this context, Becker requested the Government, through the Ministry of the Interior, to investigate and provide precise information regarding this information that has already spread to the media in Chile and also in Argentina, where there is also a landing of an aircraft with similar characteristics.

 

 

"The coincidence between both situations (Chile and Argentina) and the need to prevent acts of terrorism in our national territory, as well as to clear up any doubt about the reason for these flights and the integration of their crew, forces us to request all the necessary information and ask for a special session on this," he said. In the legislator's opinion, "it may be a complex and delicate issue that our country is being visited by planes and groups with weapons and terrorist groups," for which he indicated that he will request that Defense Minister Maya Fernández be summoned to the session. , and the Undersecretary of the Interior, Manuel Monsalve. It should be remembered that a few weeks ago the deputy had officiated to the Ministry of the Interior and the National Migration Service to adopt the necessary measures to prevent the arrival in the national territory that are accused of belonging to terrorist groups. The YV3533 patent aircraft, belonging to Conviasa and previously to Mahan Air-both companies sanctioned by the United States, would have returned to Caracas without being held on Chilean soil.
