She has been in and out of the shelters and has been abandoned a total of three times now. Two out of those three times, Ava was left in other states but is on her way back to Fresno.

The center received a call on Monday that a dog named Ava had been found as a stray in Las Vegas by a local animal control agency. They were able to track down Valley Animal Center in Fresno from Ava's microchip.

The center's supervisor Ruben Cantu and his wife took it among themselves to hit the road on Saturday at 5 a.m. to pick her up.

Cantu tells FOX26,  that Ava is very special to him and the shelter. He says it hurts to see that this has happened to her for the third time since 2016.

The first time she was deserted in a field near Orange Cove where the shelter took her in was in 2016. The second time after being adopted, she was found abandoned in Pima, Arizona in 2019.

During that time, the shelter raised funds to bring Ava back home using the hashtag #BringAvaHome. The goal for the no-kill non-profit animal shelter was $800 to cover the cost of the trip by car but ended up raising more than $1,300.

She was adopted once again in September of 2020.

"Since her adoption in 2020, the staff at Valley Animal Center moved on believing Ava had finally found her furever home. Today, Valley Animal Center is devastated," Valley Animal Center said.

Again, this week, Ava was found in Las Vegas. Her previous owners told The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas they were moving again and  had left Ava in good hands with family. According to the foundation, those family members, "cut Ava loose."

She should be arriving in Fresno by 7 p.m. today and will be spending the night with her best bud Cantu and his fur animals.

The staff at the center says at this time, they don't know what's next for Ava but should have a clear answer by next week. They say it's a hard decision to put Ava through something like this again since she's been in and out of the shelter. Cantu says he hopes someone in the team will adopt her so they know she is in safe hands.
