[Auto] Electric versatility: the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo arrives in Chile

In conjunction with the presentation of the Taycan GTS, Porsche is launching in Chile a second body variant of the brand's spectacular 100% electric vehicle: the Taycan Cross Turismo.

As its name indicates, this more familiar body was presented at the beginning of 2021 and not only differs in its design, but also has certain features that improve its off-road capabilities, although it is far from being classified as a crossover or SUV. .

It measures 4,974mm long, 1,967mm wide, 1,409mm high and has 2,904mm wheelbase. If we compare it with a normal Taycan, the biggest change is seen in its height, since the Cross Turismo is 28 mm taller, and of those, 20 mm are in the ground clearance.

Not only that, but it offers more space in the rear seats (6 cm more headroom) and more volume in the trunk, which reaches 446 liters, expandable to 1,212 liters if the backrests are folded down. And in addition, the design of the portal allows offering a large loading mouth.

All Taycan Cross Turismos offer four-wheel drive and air suspension. Among its novelties that differentiate it from the Taycan is a Gravel (Gravel or dirt) driving mode, thanks to which the body is raised to the maximum available, and the efficiency and traction capacity of the suspension, traction system and stability control are improved. .

In addition to that, Porsche offers in this model mechanical improvements focused on driving dynamics both on and off-road. For example, it includes an improved rear limited-slip differential (PTV Plus), rear-wheel steering, Porsche Traction Management (PTM) focused on a dual function (asphalt and dirt), and Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) with active stabilizer bars.

In terms of design, the Taycan Cross Turismo offers a cabin extended to the rear to generate the look of a family model, more pronounced moldings on the wheel arches, exclusive lower skirts in the front and rear.

 

 

It also has the option of adding an Off-Road Sport Design package, which adds integrated fins on the corners of both bumpers, side skirts and an exclusive design diffuser. But in addition, it allows the body to be raised by an additional 10 mm to the 20 mm that the Cross Turismo comes with as standard.

Thus, ground clearance is 124 mm in all Cross Turismos and 134 mm with the Off-Road package, but thanks to the Smartlift body lift system, it can reach 17.6 cm of clearance, against 14, 6 maximum offered by the normal Taycan.

The interior design is identical to the normal Taycan and the biggest differences are seen in the larger rear seats. It features classic circular clock markers and a 10.9" screen for the infotainment system.

Versions and mechanics
The model will be available in Taycan 4 Cross Turismo, 4S Cross Turismo and Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo versions.

The first includes two motors with a total output of 380 Hp in normal mode and 476 Hp with overboost, with 500 Nm of torque, for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds and a maximum of 220 km/h. .

The Taycan 4S Cross Turismo also has two engines but increases the delivery to 490 normal Hp and 571 Hp with overboost, as well as 650 Nm of torque. It goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and reaches a top speed of 240 km/h.

Finally, the Turbo, meanwhile, rises to 625 and 680 Hp of power, without or with overboost, and 850 Nm of torque. The 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 3.3 seconds and it reaches 250 km/h.

They all mount the large battery called Performance battery Plus with 93.4 kWh capacity, with autonomy reaching a maximum of 452 kilometers (456 km in the Taycan 4) in the WLTP measurement cycle.
