[Auto] Skoda Fabia 2022, the fourth generation opens in Chile

After a good delay caused by all the global contingency, Škoda finally presents us with the fourth generation of the Fabia, a car with a very good reputation among its loyal customers and also among us in the specialized press, where at least a couple have or have had one. Our own Carolina Rojas (whom you can find answering everything on Autocosmos social media) owns one. Even I was about to buy a homologation model a few good years ago when I wasn't working at Autocosmos yet: it's that good.

In this fourth generation there are several interesting changes that make the Fabia gain a lot in functionality, but without losing its style and practical functions; like a good Škoda, it is a great ambassador of the "Simply Clever" concept. The only big problem with all this is that now you have to pay more than before: not everything is so perfect.

On this occasion, the Fabia is manufactured on the brand's MQB-A0 platform, that is, it is directly related to cars such as the Volkswagen Polo and the SEAT Ibiza. Thanks to this, the Fabia is no longer the small hatchback of the Volkswagen Group, becoming the same size as its brothers. His rivals are also away from home: Peugeot 208, Opel Corsa, Citroën C3 and Renault Clio V.

The design of the Fabia remains very similar to that of the last generation, but more stretched, considering that it now has a wider platform. The very marked crease that runs through the profile stands out, the new wheel design (15 to 17 inches) and new, longer headlights with LED technology on the front. The cutout on the rear windows is also maintained, which helps give it recognition.

In short, the Fabia wins in proportions, because it looks more stylish and sporty, but very true to its style.

Where there are resounding changes is in the interior, which stands out for its round aerators, which are joined by a simile aluminum molding that crosses the entire board. There are also some sportier inserts above the instrument panel and in the aforementioned air vents. The steering wheel, the door handles and the multimedia system are redesigned at a more visible height. Obviously all the finishes change depending on the version and Škoda will offer three different levels for this Fabia.

As standard, the Škoda "Simply Clever" package is added with special practical solutions such as 1.5 liter bottle holders in the front seats and 0.5 liter in the rear, a removable front cup holder, rear cell phone holder, adjustable boot compartment, rear with cup holders, storage package in the trunk, the classic ice scrapers on the fuel cap, funnel for the windscreen wiper tank, compartment for an umbrella (Ambition and Style versions), among others.
