In the investigation that led to the arrest of the so-called "Chino", Alejandro Liguen Venegas, all the facts are reconstructed: "It is so, that from the analysis of the audiovisual evidence obtained from the members of the truck in which the victim Luis Morales Balcázar, it was determined that the site of the event corresponds to a sector within the Chacaico community. To this, other evidence is added, such as the use of the weapon: "That the antecedent that was maintained is that Alejandro Liguen Venegas had acquired a rifle in the month of October 2020, not knowing the caliber until that moment." However, in the brief presented before the Temuco Guarantee Court, it is detailed that "once PDI officials carried out the recognition on February 25, 2021, Alejandro Liguen Venegas, declared himself in hiding, indicating on several occasions that could not leave the sector. And as a result, he tells his partner that he was 'sicociao'". Also in May 2021, "two calls were received from a company number, clearly indicating threats to PDI (...), which would lead to death, just as the Investigative Police officer died, indicating the sector in which he would have deceased. He could have had knowledge, only participating in the fact". They ask for .308 caliber ammunition Likewise, it is established that the suspect “maintains communications with third parties, requesting .308 caliber ammunition, compatible with the caliber that killed the Investigative Police officer. The same investigation describes serious injuries and that the "injuries caused to the victim, accounted for a single, high-caliber projectile". Everything, the investigations add , "confirmed, after performing the autopsy on the victim Luis Morales Balcázar (...). It was possible to extract metallic splinters from the body that constituted the projectile used to kill him." Thus, "subjecting said projectile to expertise, together with the projectile extracted from the bulletproof vest, of the FGC official, which was being transported with the victim, it was possible to determine that the projectile used corresponds to one of caliber 7.62 or its simile .308, caliber of high firepower". The investigators detected that on "March 23, 2021 and September 10, 2021 (...) subjects who act in the same form of organization and meet at the Shnake crossing, being able to identify Alejandro Liguen Venegas on September 10, as one of the subjects who is armed, who carries out vehicle controls in the area and approaches the vehicle in which your partner regularly moves, greeting a boy or girl who is inside".

Purchase of a high-caliber rifle and telescopic sight With these first clues, the PDI and the prosecution followed those responsible, instructing the detectives to "determine the addresses near the site of the event and the people who lived there." “In this context, it was determined that Alejandro Liguen Venegas, alias “El Chino”, lived in a sector near the site of the event and that in addition to that he had acquired a rifle in October 2020, not knowing until then the caliber. of it," says the arrest warrant. And that “with the antecedent that was maintained, that is, that he lived in the vicinity of the site of the event and also that, some time before the event of January 7, he would have acquired a rifle; The telephone interception of Alejandro Liguen Venegas and his close circle was requested, as well as access to his email and Facebook social network. They called him to warn of police operations. The investigation also included a series of "telephone calls from the intercepted numbers, (...) most of the calls correspond to subjects who communicate with Alejandro Liguen Venegas, who alerted him to the presence police in the area. Thus, the key was when “he receives a call from a third person, who tells him that police officers were entering the sector. In addition to the above, M.I.I. was intercepted, who also lives in the Chacaico sector, who upon learning of the diligence carried out by the PDI in the Chacaico sector, tries to contact Alejandro Liguen Venegas to notify him of said diligence. Notwithstanding the foregoing, she makes contact with Alejandro Liguen's mother, this is S.V., who tells her that they are not in the sector”. In the telephone conversations, it is also noted that the PDI entered on February 25 of last year and another police operation, in which calls were also generated between those involved, commenting that "outside his home there was a fire and that this had the purpose of erasing evidence, since it was in that place that the PDI official was killed". The accused's social networks also made it possible to verify, according to the prosecution, that "he acquired .308 caliber ammunition, the same caliber that had killed the PDI official, which also shed light on the caliber of the rifle he had acquired in October. Making contact with a subject, dated February 3, 2021 (less than a month after the events occurred), a subject who later identified himself as D.A., who is the same subject who acted as an intermediary for the acquisition of the rifle.
