[Auto] Mercedes Vision AMG Concept puts the Porsche Taycan against the wall

Mercedes-Benz itself is already immersed in a major electrification strategy and obviously the Mercedes-AMG sports division does not want to be left behind in this revolution. With the Mercedes-AMG EQS and Mercedes-AMG EQE, it already demonstrated the performance potential of its zero-emission sedans, but now it presents a concept that makes clear its intentions to bring everything to the level of supercars.

This car is called Mercedes Vision AMG Concept and is a preview of what will be the brand's next high-performance electric car. "With this study, we offer a first look at how we are bringing AMG's DNA into the all-electric future, starting in 2025," said Philipp Schiemer, CEO of Mercedes-AMG at the time of the car's unveiling.

Mercedes Vision AMG Concept: Design

The new Vision AMG is a four-door coupé that debuts the Sensual Purity design language
It features a long wheelbase and a low, elongated body.
It has some features of the Mercedes-AMG F1, such as the details in aqua green or the Alubeam Silver tone of the bodywork, as well as the contrasts in black.
The side sills and the diffuser are also inspired by the car.
The Mercedes-Benz logo decorates the bodywork and the AMG logo is found at the rear.
The design of the front lights is inspired by the star logo.

 

The side windows look like an extension of the bodywork.
The rims are also inspired by the design used by F1 single-seaters.
At the front, it sports the new style of the Pan-American grille for electric cars, which lacks openings and has light elements.
The cameras that replace the mirrors are aerodynamically designed.
It has an active spoiler.
Round taillights hint at four exhaust outlets.

The technical section is a mystery in the Mercedes Vision AMG Concept. The only certain thing is that it is based on the specific AMG.EA platform and that it uses an Axial Flux motor developed by YASA, although there are no details of the power. However, the firm pointed out that this type of thrusters deliver "substantially more power than conventional electric thrusters."

When the production version of this concept materializes, without a doubt the rival to beat will be the Porsche Taycan, without forgetting the Audi e-tron GT. The battle to create the world's most capable four-door super coupe is sure to get very electrifying. And although it is not at all certain, something tells me that this car could replace the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé 4 Doors.
