There were various reactions to the statements made by the mayor of Valparaíso, Jorge Sharp, who was critical of some of the decisions made by the Government of President Gabriel Boric. In an interview with El Mercurio, the community chief was asked about how difficult it is for the Executive to govern with two coalitions (on the one hand I approve of Dignity and on the other, democratic socialism that includes parties like the PS), and he replied that "Faced with the crossroads of broadening the political and social base, the government made the decision to expand to the former Coalition, and I think that is a mistake."

For the same reason, he recognized that "without a doubt" citizen movements should have been privileged. But it is evident that the Government took a path and that is to ally with the former Coalition. All the incorporations to the ministerial teams are very coherent with that strategic decision". "It has been pointed out that it made sense to build a robust majority in the legislature. It is something that remains to be seen. With regard to what took place in the fifth retreat, both the limited and the unlimited, it seems that this is not the case. "It is a bet, I do not agree with that bet, and I know that many people who voted for Boric do not agree. It may be that the strategy will give results. The issue is that an agenda of changes as important and profound as the one that The country demands, in social rights, security, territories, it needs to be pushed by the actors who believe in these transformations, and the actors who believe in these transformations are not in the leadership of the former Concertación," he asserted. In this regard, the president of the Party for Democracy (PPD) Natalia Piergentilli, told Emol that "I do not share what Mayor Sharp points out that we did not make the changes as if there were no transforming will, and that is not effective. It is no news to anyone that the great locks on a welfare state is the Constitution, which with a binomial system was insurmountable." In his opinion, "it is therefore about broadening the base of President Boric's government, without excluding or having exclusive visions, which do not contribute to giving him the political and social validation that the President requires to advance his program." . According to Saavedra, Sharp's "biased vision" "does not contribute to carrying out a unitary enlargement process that contributes to the formation of a majority for the changes in the country." In addition, he said that "it is clear that the electoral results that the citizens delivered have not been internalized: that it left a practically tied Congress, so you need to adapt to the situations in order to move forward."
