She is the lead singer of the alternative rock band The Brilliant Green. She also has a solo career under the alter-ego pseudonyms Tommy february6 and Tommy heavenly6. The Brilliant Green is heavily influenced by Western music, most predominantly The Beatles with over half of their English including lyrical songs. Their break came in 1998, when their third single "There Will Be Love There" was chosen as the theme song for po[CENSORED]r Japanese theater "Love Again" once, and as a result went immediately to the top of the graphics. After hitting another number "Tsumetai Hana" they released their debut self-titled album which sold over a million copies in just two days.[citation needed] On the back of their success from this first national tour, There Will Be Live There, sells out across Japan in just three minutes.[citation needed] In 2001, Time magazine named The Brilliant Green one of the top ten contemporary acts outside the United States. After the release of The Winter Album, the band members switched to solo projects, but the group never officially broke up. Kawase went solo as Tommy February6, who later became Tommy Heavenly6. Matsui also started a new band called Meister. On November 22, 2003, Kawase and Okuda announced their marriage. On June 1, 2007, it was announced that, after five years of inactivity, The Brilliant Green would be returning with a new single to celebrate their 10th anniversary. The song titled, "Stand by Me", was chosen as the ending theme for the new fictional TV series, Detective School Q, which began on July 3, 2007. The comeback began in earnest on August 22, 2007. 2007, as the new stores the single hit. The band appeared at their first live good show since their comeback playing the Iwafune Mountain Cliff Stage on October 21, 2007. This performance was part of the Iwafune Cliff Stage Special 2007 with the musical The Brilliant Green appearing alongside other acts. including DxD, Sowelu and Viagrade. The second release of their single back, "Enemy", was given on Christmas release on December 12, 2007. The following single, titled "Ash Like Snow" appears as an opening theme for the anime series, Mobile Suit Gundam 00. On February 20, 2008, a compilation album entitled Complete Singles Collection '97-'08 was released. The band also has a line mentioned in the interview that a new album is currently in the works studio, which consists of previously unrecorded songs that have been written over the last ten years.
