Razer's product line has massively expanded and gone beyond just peripherals. In an effort to be more than just a specialists in keyboard and mice, the company has invested in building what is an ecosystem and streaming is a huge part of that.

There's the Kiyo pro camera, the Seiren line of microphones, the Audio Mixer, a dedicated gaming chair and the cherry on top, the Razer Key Light Chroma. If you're a streamer that's looking to invest in a solution that meets your streaming needs and makes you look cool while doing it, the Razer Key Light Chroma could be the perfect addition.

So it makes complete sense that Razer, pioneers in the world of RGB make a streaming light. I've used it for a few of my own streams and other video productions and the keylight chroma comes in handy especially with its colour control and good lumen brightness and integrates pretty well with the rest of your other Razer streaming gear if you have it.

The Key light chroma is a large panel that comes with a standard tripod and table clamp. Fairly slim and robust, it's pretty much what you'd expect from a Razer product. The pole can reach a of 553mm to 1350mm to achieve the right lighting angle, you can even do a top down view with this light and tripod which makes it nice for unboxing content. It's got a white colour temperature range from 3000K to 7000K with a max brightness of 2800 lumen

The panel measures 360mm x 260mm and has an A/C cord and is powered via an A/C adapter. Setting up the light from scratch was largely painless, although hauling around nearly 2KG of equipment as you screw in the nuts and bolts requires some pre-planning before you clamp it to your desk and mount the light on the top. The panel is already diffused as well so you don't get a harsh beam of light that will overpower your vision when you're streaming.

You can control the light through the app or on the PC, my one minor gripe about the PC integration is the way you have to navigate the menu to add the software in. Unlike other Razer products that trigger when you plug in, you have to go to the menu and add a wireless based device. It's ridiculously easy to set this up on mobile however. Since there's only button, all it needs required is to sync it through wifi and the rest happens fairly quickly.

When you do use the RGB leds, the brightness of the light goes to 15% but by no means is it any dimmer, it remains effectively bright as well. You can even choose to only output the RGB leds without any white mixed in them giving you a richer colour. Not just that, by this being a Razer product, it integrates well with all of your Chroma devices and will also work with your games as you stream them. In my case, I paired it with my philips hue lights and gave a few games control over the light so rather than have a bright white light, it helps with the immersion.

As a Razer product, the Key Light Chroma works perfectly and optimally fills the setup nicely, there's so many use cases for this product. The ability to use Chroma means you now have several different creative methods to light up your scene and pairing this with multiple Razer Chroma devices allows you to have full control in one place. If you're not streaming you can even use this on your phone which is what I did a lot of the time when it came to video shoots.

If you have a big space or streaming from a studio and want to illuminate multiple people in the same scene you can get two and fill up the space with a copious amount of light to flood the room but for a regular streamer one will do. Now whether you need one is up for debate here especially for newer streamers on a budget.
