Puig's new design concept aims to open the debate on the accessories that future motorcycles should equip

Everflowing Design, this is the name of the most ambitious design project of the accessories manufacturer Puig materialized in the Diablo, a motorcycle that leaves no one indifferent. The company's designers and engineers, who have kept their philosophy of improving production motorcycles aesthetically and performance-wise intact, present a new design concept that puts the spotlight on what motorcycle accessories will look like in the future.

“We wanted to open the debate about what the motorcycle and accessories of the future could be like, showing how we imagine it at Puig and the result, the Diablo, I think is the perfect exponent, with active aerodynamics, protection, functionality, and aesthetics as design principles”, explained Miquel Vallribera, main designer of Puig, during the presentation of the Diablo.

To create a naked bike that offers an improved riding experience and aerodynamic performance, Puig's team modified the riding position of the Diablo (developed from a Yamaha MT-09 SP) after conducting an ergonomic study to improve aerodynamics. and rider protection.

As an exercise in creativity of the accessory manufacturer, the Diablo incorporates a whole series of innovative elements: mobile screen and deflectors, front fender, belly pan, brake cooler, tank pads, side covers, tail cover, lenticular rim cover, front spoiler, spoiler mobile wings and wings.

The screen is raised electronically together with the deflectors to offer aerodynamic protection that can be modified by 100 mm depending on the needs of the moment. As for the front wings, in a simple way, they complete without weighing down the front of the motorcycle, they give a greater personality and style. For its mobile part, the ailerons incorporate four servomotors and a sensor that tilts the inner spoilers when the pilot needs it or when it detects strong accelerations. Finally, it should be noted that the tail consists of two pieces: the base that holds the lighting unit and the upper piece that creates two channels for the air to circulate, thus eliminating the turbulence generated when the air impacts the pilot at high speeds.

In the words of Berta Perarnau, head of design at Puig: “This is the first time we have faced such a free design project, it has been a very interesting challenge and learning for the entire team that has allowed us to see what we are capable of of doing and new lines of design and many ideas for the future have emerged from it”.

Through this short documentary you can learn how the Diablo was made by its creators.
