Hal (Eddie Marsan), a married man with an unstable family relationship and collector of retro video games, receives a copy of an interactive fiction computer game called "CURS>R" which he installs and plays that night, causing his son to lose his tongue by his own mother due to the effects of the game. Hal begins playing the game, expecting it to be nothing more than a classic 1980's text-based adventure game, but is quick to realize its true nature when the objects around him begin to interact with the game, and his family are harmed as a result.
