[Moto] Royal Enfield's Meteor 350 motorcycle will be assembled in Colombia

It is projected that this year Royal Enfield will assemble more than 340 motorcycles monthly in Colombia, highlighting the motorcycle factory.

Taking into account that the sale of motorcycles during 2022 has grown by 34% compared to the first quarter of the previous year, according to figures from the National Association for Sustainable Mobility (Andemos), Royal Enfield will begin the assembly of the Meteor 350 in order to expand its offer in the country. A task that, since last year, the brand has been carrying out at its plant located in Envigado, department of Antioquia, with the assembly of the Himalayan motorcycle, since that date producing 160 units per month by the Corbeta Group, importer of the brand. .

During his visit to the plant, Krishnan Ramaswamy, President and Business Head for the American continent of Royal Enfield, highlighted that "Colombia is a very important market for us worldwide, especially in Latin America, and the fact that Royal Enfield has started its second assembly production line outside of India with Corvette is a testament to that.”

The characteristics of the Meteor 350
The Meteor 350 was designed and developed by the talented teams of designers and engineers at Royal Enfield's state-of-the-art technical centers in Bruntingthorpe, UK and Chennai, India. Although the fine mechanical components, accessories and finishes of the Meteor, the personalized in a first-class modern motorcycle, which continues to retain the classic DNA, a hallmark of this brand.

It has a single-cylinder 349 cc SOHC air-cooled engine, fed by an electronic fuel injection system. It generates a power of 20.2 horsepower and 27 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm.

Simultaneously, the Meteor 350's double-cradle chassis has been designed to inspire confidence in any driving condition, thanks to its improved geometry and stiffness. Both the low seat height and the low center of gravity result in an optimal motorcycle for the urban driver who is looking for a single vehicle for his daily commutes and why not, eventually enjoy Colombian roads.

With national seal in some finishes

It should be noted that the inputs used by Royal Enfield, such as paints and some aesthetic components, are of national origin, thus guaranteeing their quality and accelerating the production of motorcycles.

In this way, Royal Enfield continues to accelerate its expansion and production process in Colombia, generating nearly 150 direct jobs and making the country one of the main sections of the brand in the world.

Therefore, for this new assembly operation, they have a team of 120 people, who are duly trained in the design and quality of the motorcycle with an assembly time of 7 minutes per unit.

Their work will generate the assembly of 340 motorcycles per month between the Himalayan and Meteor 350 models in approximately 5 days, motorcycles that will later be distributed in the 16 stores already established in Colombia and those that are about to open in Bogotá, Cali and Barranquilla.
