Toyota GR Corolla will be more exclusive than we thought
The Toyota GR Corolla is the long-awaited successor to the GR Yaris that will be available in the US market.

For fans of the Japanese manufacturer, this is a historic revelation as it is a car that will become a strong competitor to cars like the Volkswagen Golf R.

Of course, with a vehicle slated to be in demand like this one, supply concerns were raised.

Toyota has been hit by a series of production delays due to supply chain problems and the Covid-19 outbreak.

This affected the global stock of models such as the Yaris and Land Cruiser 300, and even the GR Supra.

When it comes to the GR Corolla, the company assures that producing enough units to meet demand will not be a problem.

According to information revealed in an interview with Road & Track, Toyota's Vice President of Marketing, Mike Tripp, revealed that its production line at the Motomachi plant is equipped to produce enough units for its dedicated customers.

"I wouldn't say the limiting factor for these compounds is our ability to produce them," Mike Tripp says.

While meeting demand is important, Toyota also wants to ensure that the GR Corolla ownership experience is exclusive, so cars won't be over-demanded.

In the words of Mike Tripp, “too few models” is the perfect target to aim for.

Toyota is reluctant to put any unsold GR Corolla on the floor because that could create the illusion that the car is unwanted.

This is the same concern many manufacturers have, prompting them to adapt a strategy that will focus them on producing fewer cars.

There is no doubt that with this decision, brands can become more difficult for consumers.

With the GR Corolla, Tripp revealed that 8,000 units will be sold within the first year.

This will taper off to 6000 units next year.

Toyota hopes to release a few good special editions and range upgrades to keep the car still fit.

The first is the inaugural Circuit Edition, which we can expect to hit showrooms by next year.
