West Ham donated to nine animal protection associations the amount of the fine imposed on its French player Kurt Zouma for mistreating his cats, the English club announced in a statement.

 

The 27-year-old defender was fined around 300,000 euros ($330,000) by his club for posting a video on social media in early February of him mistreating

his cat.

 

The money will allow, among other projects, to help an association that deals with the evacuation of domestic animals from Ukraine to prevent them from being injured by the Russian invaders.

 

In addition to the club being fined, the incident caused Adidas to break the sponsorship contract with the French international.
