The Minister of Justice and Human Rights of the Nation, Martín Soria, repudiated the ruling that declared the law of the Council of the Judiciary unconstitutional and pointed against the Supreme Court for "extorting Congress" and putting on "the yellow shirt" with rulings to the extent of the macrista opposition. The Senate of the Nation continues this Wednesday with the discussion in a plenary of commissions of the projects to modify the conformation of the organism that appoints and sanctions judges.

"For the first time in history since the return of democracy, the Supreme Court issued a ruling declaring unconstitutional a law that was in force for 16 years. A law under which 70 percent of the judges who are in office were appointed," highlighted the national official in statements to El Destape Radio. And he added: "This Court, with two ministers appointed by decree, obliges the National Congress to issue a new law from the Council of the Magistracy in 120 days. That is, it imposes a term to legislate and the term is obviously unfulfillable. They are forcing Congress to legislate under extortion."

Soria explained that the ruling of the Supreme Court "extorts" the legislative power because it indicates to Congress that if they do not approve a law, one from 1997 will remain in force and that it favored the Menemist Court. "That law was repealed and a law that was repealed by Congress cannot be made operational," said Soria, who recalled that the Supreme Court judge himself, Ricardo Lorenzetti, recognized that a repealed law can never be applied.

The official warned that there are only four weeks left for the deadline established by the Supreme Court to approve a new law. "We are less than four weeks away from the paralysis of the administration of Justice in Argentina. The Council of the Judiciary, which is the body in charge of appointing judges and carrying out disciplinary processes for those judges who have some type of misconduct, is paralyzed. in their dealings."

The Minister of Justice recalled that there were clandestine meetings between judges and prosecutors to put together cases. "Even former officials, spies and legislators were filmed to put together legal cases. That is the judicial, media and political persecution in which several judges and prosecutors participated"

Soria accused the Court of targeting the government: "In these two years we have seen rulings tailored to the opposition, a Court that is obviously very partisan and to put it more clearly: a Court that put on the yellow shirt."

Soria recalled that the Supreme Court stopped the national government's decision to declare an essential public service for telecommunications companies, which allowed them to increase their income extraordinarily in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic.
