AMD FSR 2.0

A few days ago we told you about a leak indicating that today AMD was going to present FSR 2.0, the evolution of its texture rescaling and smoothing technology with which it wants to stand up to NVIDIA and its DLSS.

Finally, this leak has become a reality and the company led by Lisa Su has officially announced FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0, a new version of this technology designed to increase the fps rate of our games without losing graphic quality (or losing the minimum possible).

This new version will use data from previous frames to deliver similar or better than native image quality at all resolutions while increasing the fps rate, without the need for dedicated machine learning hardware. (as is the case with NVIDIA RTX graphics and DLSS) being compatible with a large number of graphics, including not only the different generations of AMD but also NVIDIA and Intel GPUs. In fact, the first generation of FSR is compatible with PS5 and XSX/S so it is likely that this will be too (although this is to be confirmed).

FSR 2.0 will be available during the second quarter of this year to "inject new life into current generation graphics cards, boosting performance and delivering superior immersive experiences. These technologies bring games to life and we will continue to deliver powerful and innovative high-performance features that push the boundaries of gaming immersion," said Frank Azor, chief architect of Gaming Solutions at AMD.

AMD releases new Adrenalin drivers with several improvements

Along with this announcement, AMD also immediately releases new Adrenalin drivers for its graphics cards that come with new features such as AMD Radeon Super Resolution (RSR) technology, a spatial scaling function that offers almost native resolution and higher performance in games played. run in exclusive mode, full screen, with graphics cards based on AMD RDNA™ architecture or newer and supports thousands of games.

Another novelty of these drivers is the new version of Radeon Image Sharpening (RIS), to give greater sharpness and clarity to images in video games. A post-processing system that can be used to enhance the display in video playback and other productivity applications, with just one click.
