The film won four Academy Awards, including the Academy Award for Best Picture, Best Actress for Hilary Swank, and Best Director for Clint Eastwood. The story was written by novelist Jerry Boyd, nicknamed "F.X. Toole", which was released before the film Rope Burns. The film was released on December 15, 2004. The DVD version was released on July 12, 2005, and the HD DVD version was released the following year.
