Watching the hustle and bustle of the city go by always entertains me. That morning I saw, like many others, a couple of cats that had been born very close to my house, in a lot just behind. They were brothers and since they were little they always went together. That day they walked aimlessly, probably looking for something to eat, next to the cars. Suddenly, for some reason, you will decide to cross the road. I admit that I was always a little anxious when they did it, in case something bad happened. However, that morning they both crossed at the same time, without any further problem. However, for some reason, one of them had to return. It happened out of regret. He turned around and began to cross the street again. I almost didn't get to see what happened. I heard a sudden stop and saw his body lying, still alive, but dying. I was so sorry. The car didn't even stop. The most surprising thing is that then I saw something that I could never imagine and will never forget. The other cat, seeing his brother lying dying on the road, rushed to help and, grabbing him by the neck, began to pull him, again and again, trying to move him to the sidewalk. In reality, he only succeeded when life left his brother's body and, already inert, he had no resistance. Already on the sidewalk, on the edge of a tree, he let his body rest on the ground and hastily began to lick him. I think I'm trying to wake him up. I don't know very well because, by then, my eyes were covered with tears. After a few minutes, the animal must have realized that all this was useless and, finally, it left there. Over the next few days I looked for him all over the neighborhood, but never saw him again. Several months have passed, but there is no day that they remember that. If they had told me, I never would have believed it. However, since then he has searched, read and found many other similar cases with dogs, cats and even other types of animals. They are testimonies that claim to see the same thing I saw, that cold morning. Actually, an act of pure love from one animal to another.
