The unilateral sanctions of the United States against independent countries represent crimes against humanity, asserted the Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, referring to the recent sanctions imposed by Washington on Russia.

Through her Twitter account, Rodríguez pointed out that the unilateral coercive measures imposed on sovereign countries “is the grossest and most barbaric expression of extortion of governments not aligned with Western mandates. They also constitute crimes against humanity by collectively punishing peoples. Russia will win », she affirmed after mentioning a tweet that summarizes Washington's sanctions on Moscow.

This week the United States announced a new package of economic sanctions against some banks, sovereign debt and five citizens of Russia after President Vladimir Putin recognized the independence of Donetsk and Lugansk.

Similarly, President Joe Biden announced this Thursday a new batch of sanctions against Russia that will include sanctioning four other Russian banks and suppressing more than half of Russia's technology imports.

Despite this, the Russian government stated on Wednesday that the sanctions seek to "hinder" economic development, for which it announced that they will respond forcefully, not "necessarily symmetrically, but measured and sensitive to the US side."

Like Russia, Venezuela is one of the countries to which the United States has applied unilateral sanctions. In 2015, the administration of former President Barak Obama declared Venezuela an unusual threat to the United States.

Since then, the unilateral decrees of the United States have been extended to officials, businessmen, over transactions and even the state-owned company Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA).
