This vintage SMEG Futro design offers the ultimate luxury transport for a sunny day in the countryside.

With spring just around the corner, it's time to think about getaways to the countryside, hiking trails, bike rides and outdoor picnics. When traveling by motorcycle, luggage cannot be very large and carrying a basket with everything you need to enjoy a meal with friends or family can be cumbersome, so, most of the time, you choose to take the car or choose a nearby destination to which you can go by public transport or even on foot. These inconveniences could go down in history thanks to the SMEG Futro, an electric scooter concept that comes standard with everything you need to go on a picnic to magical places away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

 

Only its aesthetics you already promise. This prototype, the work of artist Joon S. of the Yanko Design studio, takes its inspiration from Vespas, with their flowing, rounded lines from the golden age of Italian automotive design, and SMEG's retro-style home appliances with a range of elegant pastel color scheme, chrome accents and leather trim. It comes with a ring light at the front with two indicators below it and the SMEG branding in the middle. In addition, it has a dashboard with a touch screen that allows access to all its features and includes a browser and music player. What is not detailed is its technical characteristics: speed, autonomy, charging time...

 

However, the most surprising thing about this prototype is hidden in its side panels. Under them comes a complete picnic kit that includes thermoses for coffee, cups, lunch boxes, boards to cut sausages, cutlery and two star products that will make this moment an unforgettable experience: a wine cooler and a mini toaster. Thus, SMEG Futro would position itself as the definitive two-wheeled recreational vehicle. The best thing is that to use these devices, its creator has thought of everything and has placed a removable battery under the seat to be able to plug in these and other devices.

For now there is no news about its production, but given the good reception it has had among motor and design lovers, it is likely that it will obtain the necessary financing to go on the market. Due to the characteristics revealed, its price would not be cheap at all, but, surely, it would be worth paying for it.
