Texas Chainsaw Massacre is scheduled to be released on February 18, 2022 on Netflix.

Leatherface is officially back after a five-year-long hiatus in the upcoming Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022, and here's everything we know about the reboot. From the looks of the trailer, the reboot doesn’t stray from the bloody, gore-filled original. The film will be the first movie in the series since Leatherface (2017) and the ninth film in the almost five-decade-long franchise.

The upcoming slasher film is directed by David Blue Garcia (Bloodfest), with a script by Chris Thomas Devlin (Cobweb). Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2022 is based on the original story by Fede Álvarez (Don't Breathe) and Rodo Sayagues (Don't Breathe, Don't Breathe 2). The movie will also serve as a direct sequel to the 1974 film.

The original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was released in 1974, directed and co-written by Tobe Hooper (Poltergeist), with a script by Kim Henkel. The franchise is top-rated, spawning eight films, merchandise, video games, and even comic books. Across the entire franchise, it has grossed over $247 million worldwide (via The Numbers).
