The tournament brought together 98 competitors from 15 states at the "Gastón Portillo" Gymnasium of the La Guaira Naval Base, for two arduous days. The state of Falcón relied on the champion of the Junior Pan American Games in Cali 2021, Astrid Montero (Olympic wrestling), to reaffirm its hegemony on the mattress of a combat sport that mixes the grappling techniques of judo and much of the arsenal of attacks and fight keys. "I am very satisfied to be able to win the National Games, although it was not in my original sport (wrestling), but it is an opportunity that I found in sambo for an age issue," revealed Astrid, who was on her way to her title in the -65kg left out of the medal table the youth Olympic gladiator in Buenos Aires 2018, Mayra Parra (Carabobo).
