Askor lml Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 Westworld is a dystopian science fiction television series created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy. Produced by HBO, it is based on the 1973 film of the same name (written and directed by Michael Crichton) and, to a lesser extent, the film's 1976 sequel, Futureworld. The story begins in Westworld, a fictional and technologically advanced Old West-themed amusement park po[CENSORED]ted by "host" androids. The park caters to high-paying "guests" ($40,000 a day) who can indulge their wildest fantasies inside the park without fear of reprisal from the hosts, whose programming prevents them from harming humans. Later, the plot of the series expands to the real world, in the middle of the 21st century, where people's lives are led and controlled by a powerful artificial intelligence named Rehoboam (Rehoboam). Nolan and Joy serve as executive producers, along with J. J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub, and Bryan Burk. The first season aired between October 2 and December 4, 2016; it comprised ten episodes. In November 2016, HBO renewed the series for a ten-episode second season, which aired from April 22 to June 24, 2018. Westworld's premiere on HBO had the network's highest viewership ratings for a premiere. since the first episode of True Detective in 2014. Additionally, the series ranks as the most-watched first season of any HBO original series. An eight-episode third season premiered on March 15, 2020. In April 2020, HBO renewed the series for a fourth season. The series has received largely positive reviews from critics, with particular praise for its cinematography, story, and acting. Synopsis In an unspecified future, Westworld, one of six theme parks owned and operated by Delos Inc., allows guests to experience the Old West in an environment po[CENSORED]ted by "hosts," androids programmed to cater to guests' every wish. Hosts follow a predefined set of interlocking narratives, but have the ability to deviate from these narratives based on the interactions they have with visitors. The hosts repeat their narrative anew each day—having erased their memories of the previous day—until they are reused or saved for use in other narratives. For the safety of visitors, hosts may not harm any life form; this allows visitors almost unlimited freedom to engage without punishment in any activity they choose with the hosts, including rape and murder. Staff are housed in a control center called "The Table," connected to the park via vast underground facilities, overseeing daily operations, developing new narratives, and repairing hosts as needed. cast and characters Main article: Westworld characters Evan Rachel Wood as Dolores Abernathy / Wyatt, the oldest hostess still working at the park.
