MSD has published the financial results of its company in 2021, in which the growth of its animal health segment stands out. Thus, MSD Animal Health recorded sales of 5,568 million dollars (4,856.37 euros) in 2021, 18% more than in the same period of 2020. This represents a growth slightly higher than that of the company as a whole, which grew by 17%. Sales growth in animal health, they explain, was mainly driven by products for companion animals, led by the Bravecto line of products and vaccines. Production animal sales reflected growth in ruminant, poultry and hog products, partially offset by an additional month of sales in 2020 related to the Antelliq acquisition in 2019. In total, sales of the pet segment reached 2,273 million dollars (1,980.7 million euros) worldwide, which represents an increase of 26% compared to 2020. For their part, sales of pet products production animals reached 3,295 million dollars (2,871.76 million euros), 10% more. In this way, sales of products for pets continue to grow, and have already accounted for 40.8% of total sales in 2021, up from 37.5% in 2020.

Las ventas de productos para animales de compañía de MSD Animal Health ya representan el 40,8% del total.

The company celebrates these commercial results, which it describes as "very solid" in all its key growth factors, including its animal health segment. "Throughout 2021, we will invest in the discovery, development, production and commercialization of medicines and vaccines, promoting the sustainability of our business," says MSD CEO Robert M. Davis. This is why he maintains that they enter 2022 “with a strong momentum”. “We are moving fast to introduce innovations that address critical unmet needs and contribute to global health,” he adds. “This remains at the core of our strategy and why we are focused on benefiting the patients we serve and, in turn, creating long-term value for our shareholders.”
