Today, Sunday, Palestinians from inside the Green Line demonstrated in front of the Israeli government headquarters in occupied Jerusalem, rejecting the Israeli authorities' confiscation of their lands in the Negev, where Jewish extremists attacked the Al-Jazeera team during coverage, while the occupation army dispersed another stand in East Jerusalem. "Dozens of Arabs from all over the country are demonstrating in front of Prime Minister Naftali Bennett's office for the right of the Bedouins to live in dignity in the Negev," Israel Army Radio said.https://www.aljazeera.net/news/politics/2022/1/30/القدس-فلسطينيون-يتظاهرون-أمام-مكتب

The Al-Jazeera team, which was covering the demonstration, was attacked by Jewish extremists, who pushed and directed racist expressions to Al-Jazeera correspondent Najwan Samri and photographer Wael Salaimeh, in front of the Israeli police, who did not intervene to stop the attack. Among the protesters were Sheikh Raed Salah, head of the Islamic movement inside the Palestinian territories, and members of the Knesset from the Joint List (a coalition of 3 Arab parties). The participants in the demonstration demanded the release of detainees who were arrested by the Israeli police during protests that took place in the Negev recently, which witnessed confrontations with the Israeli police.Eyewitnesses said that the protesters chanted slogans such as "We do not fear and do not fear... Israel is a state of terror," and carried banners calling for the release of prisoners, while the Israeli police intensified their presence in front of Bennett's office, which was holding the weekly session of his government. These protests came at the invitation of the Higher Follow-up Committee for Arab Affairs in Israel and the Higher Steering Committee of the Arabs of the Negev. The Negev has witnessed, since January 11, protests from the Arab po[CENSORED]tion against the “Jewish National Fund” bulldozing lands owned by them and planting them in preparation for its confiscation, as it is mandated by the Israeli government to plant these lands, and is supported by the Israeli police.During the protests, the Israeli police arrested dozens of Negev residents. "There is a real serious problem," Bennett said in a newspaper interview Friday. "In the past 20 years, we have largely lost the Negev because of the foolishness of successive Israeli governments." Bennett threatened to erect an iron wall in the Negev, if his government was unable to establish control over its Bedouin po[CENSORED]tion.Meanwhile, dozens of Palestinians organized a sit-in at the invitation of the Committee to Combat the Wall and Settlements of the Palestine Liberation Organization, in the Bedouin community of Khan al-Ahmar (threatened with deportation) east of Jerusalem, in solidarity with the Arab residents of the Negev. Leaders of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the Central Committee of Fatah, and a number of activists and residents participated in the protest. Eyewitnesses indicated that an Israeli force dispersed the protest using stun grenades, closed the Bedouin gathering and prevented citizens from entering or leaving, without reports of casualties among the participants. Deportation threatens 190 Palestinian families in Khan al-Ahmar, and Israel considers that the community was built without a permit, as the homes of this neighborhood were built in the early fifties of the last century, after Israel expelled them from the Negev region.
