(Sport) Caribes completed a valuable sweep in Barquisimeto

Taking advantage of the good work of its pitchers, Caribes de Anzoátegui beat Cardenales de Lara 5-2 this Tuesday to sweep the series in Barquisimeto and thus secure two of the four commitments they will play in this decisive week.

The victory allows "the tribe" to put its record at 8-4 and stay alone with the first place, one game behind the Cardinals (7-5) and Magellan.

The Cardinals took the lead in the third inning with a Ramón Flores brace against starter Mayckol Guaipe. However, the Caribes immediately - at the top of the quarter - went up 2-1 with a single by season MVP Balbino Fuenmayor.
The Red Birds tied the action in the fifth with a single by Pedro Castillo. But again they received a resounding response.

In the seventh Rafael “Balita” Ortega drove in two with a triple and Asdrúbal Cabrera added one more with a line to put definitive numbers on the commitment.

Jean Toledo (1-0) was left with the victory after completing a perfect relay of one and a third inning. Esteban Haro scored the rescue and Luis Madero (1-1) charged with the backhand after allowing three runs in just two-thirds of the work.
