The Contentious Electoral Tribunal (TCE) admitted for processing a complaint for alleged political violence raised against legislator Diego Ordóñez (CREO), and for next January 13, 2022 the oral public hearing of evidence and trial will be held.
The complaint was made by the assembly member of the Union for Hope (UNES) bloc, Mónica Palacios, on December 3, after Ordóñez, in a tweet on November 4, wrote: "Go from the tube to the seat and these clumsy tricks ”. This in response to another tweet from the 4 Pelagatos portal that said: “Mónica Palacios was the last hope of those who want to remove the president. He said he had the proof and went on to insult Lasso. The Super Banks of Panama denies it. And now that commission does not know what to put in its report ”.
The judge presenting the case , Patricia Guaicha, admitted the complaint for this electoral violation to be processed and called the hearing for next January 13 at 09:30.

For that tweet, Ordóñez was also sanctioned by the Legislative Administration Council (CAL) of the National Assembly with a 15-day suspension without pay, for verbal aggression and obvious misogyny against Palacios.
Political violence is considered a very serious electoral offense in article 280 of the Democracy Code and is considered as “that aggression committed by a person or group of people, directly or indirectly, against women candidates, activists, elected officials, designated or who hold public office, human rights defenders, feminists, political or social leaders, or against their family ”.
This offense is made up of thirteen acts that are considered political violence in the political sphere.
The sanction provided for in article 279 of the regulation, in the event that the commission of the offense is concluded, is sanctioned with a fine from 21 basic salaries to 70, dismissal and / or suspension of participation rights from two to four years . (I)
