A few days ago I read in EL PERIÓDICO the letter "They incite us to buy and we fall into temptation", which spoke of impulsiveness when buying due to offers, price temptations and marketing strategies, and that you finally realized that many things that you had acquired you didn't even need.

This made me think of people who do the same thing but with living beings, be they dogs, cats, turtles or rabbits. I am a great lover of animals; I have two cats adopted from the protector of my po[CENSORED]tion and I would never think of abandoning them. In the last month, precisely the animal shelter where I live has published photos of three long-eared, lop-eared rabbits that were abandoned in the street, some even still with the cage.

I once spoke with a vet and he told me that there are many parents who buy animals for their children on a whim, as if it were a toy that they get tired of later. I hope that with the new animal welfare law animals will no longer be bought in stores as if they were stuffed animals. There is a phrase that I always keep in mind when I read about animals abandoned by their owners: "If animals spoke, humanity would cry."
