The Supreme Court of Thailand sentenced construction magnate Premchai Kanasutra to three years and two months in prison for various crimes in relation to the hunt in Thailand of a black panther, a threatened species, judicial sources informed Efe.

The decision of the highest court of the country leaves the conviction final after a long process that began in 2018 and was appealed twice.
Premchai, 66, president of one of the largest Thai construction companies, will finally go to prison after being released on bail since the beginning of the trial, and will also have to pay a fine of 2 million bat (59,600 dollars / 52,800 euros) .

The businessman, president of Italian-Thai Development, was arrested along with other hunting companions on February 4, 2018, when they were caught with the skin of the panther and other animals killed in the Thungyai Naresuan natural park, in Kanchanaburi province. (West).

Two other members of the hunting party, the tycoon's former driver and an aide, were also sentenced to more than three years in prison.
