#Wittels-
The motorcycle with a hole is back ... in the form of a three-wheeled scooter. WMC, the company behind one of the most daring designs of the year, has just presented a new project for a motorcycle with a hole taking advantage of the base of the Yamaha Tricity 300. The scooter with three wheels and a hole, at the moment is a prototype that leads to the Northamptonshire Police (UK). At first glance, the WMC300FR looks like a normal three-wheel scooter ... But in reality, under its frame a Venturi (V-Duct) runs through the vehicle from behind the two front wheels to under the taillights. An ingenious solution that gives it extra aerodynamics, just like its sister, the 'hole bike' WMC250EV that is dedicated to hunting speed records. And we say sister because the company behind both is the same, White Motorcycle Concepts or WMC. Although in this case they have wanted to make a hybrid scooter (gasoline and electric) for the day to day that will be tested in the Northamptonshire Police (United Kingdom). And so it is, because the WMC300FR, the 'scooter with a hole', is already "patrolling 'the city", as Torrente would say. A hybrid three-wheel scooter that is developed from the Yamaha Tricity 300 and that has been redesigned as a fast response vehicle, that is, to act in cases of extreme urgency. The V-Duct that crosses it makes its aerodynamics more effective, since the air does not surround the 'scooter with a hole', but passes through it, improving its acceleration and stability, as well as consuming less energy to propel it. WMC300FR, technologically up to date The WMC300FR (the initials 'FR' stands for First Responder, First Response) features the same 292cc single-cylinder engine as the Yamaha Tricity 300, plus a 5W electric motor powered by two removable 672Wh lithium-ion batteries. that are located behind the driver. And precisely to 'lead' the air through the front duct, the 'scooter with a hole' has a special fairing on the front wheels to direct it properly, improving not only the aerodynamics but also the ventilation of its combustion engine. The hybrid system allows the scooter to have a better response at low speeds, thus reducing fuel consumption. It now remains to be seen whether, after its Police internships, the WMC300FR passes the tests and ends up in serial production. It is curious that a few months ago we also had a similar emergency motorcycle around here, designed for fast action in tunnels but with a much more futuristic aesthetic. What does seem clear is that motorcycles with holes (in this case scooters) have come to be important for the future. Will we see more motorcycle designs with the V-Duct in the coming years?
