It is more than likely that if you are asked about a road to take on an adventure, Route 66 almost accidentally comes to mind, or perhaps the Panamericana. There is no doubt that the aptly named mother road is the holy grail for motorcyclists and that the great American 'track' dazzles you with its length and length, but the continent has another very special and not so long route: the Sea to Sky Highway in Canada.

Listed by many as one of the 10 roads to ride at least once in your life, this one travels just over 130 km through Canadian British Columbia between fjords, mountains and glaciers, some dreamy waterfalls and huge alpine meadows . From this extraordinary route, this RT Sea-to-Sky edition of the now iconic Spyder model from Can Am, the Canadian brand of the BRP group, takes its name.

"We have a mission to democratize the open road." That was how simple and straightforward Martin Ethier, the global marketing director for Can-Am On-Road (the road vehicle division), was. More than a simple slogan, it seems like a real goal to achieve.

When the brand launched the first generation of the Spyder - back in 2007 - few people gave the idea a run. Today, more than 16,000 units roll all over the world with a really wide range of customers. "More and more people from very diverse origins are discovering the joy of going out on a unique journey, and it is great to be able to welcome them all," acknowledges Ethier.

The data seems to support him. For example, in 2020 approximately 32% of Can-Am On-Road vehicle owners were women, a higher figure when compared to the almost 20% female representation that drives the motorcycle industry.

A MOTORCYCLE DRIVEN WITH A CAR LICENSE
To drive this RT Sea-to-Sky all you have to do is have a car license. This means that many of his clients come to him from the automotive world looking for the feeling of freedom that a motorcycle gives without having to jump to two wheels.

Its propellant is a 1,330 cc Rotax engine that delivers a remarkable 115 CV of power at 7,250 rpm and, most importantly, with a maximum torque of 130 Nm at 5,000 rpm, which is synonymous with ease in the medium regime, the most suitable for adding kilometers to the route, which will be, if we do not clench our fists too much, at least 400 km per tank. An indicator light warns of the ideal moment to change gear to reduce consumption.

It has a stability system - developed continuously with Bosch - that also integrates anti-lock brakes and traction control.
With its minimum ground clearance, 115 mm, and with the seat - adaptive foam and with lumbar support - at only 755 mm. high, driving is intense but without fanfare. In any case, for the pilot's peace of mind, this RT Sea-to-Sky has a stability system -developed together with Bosch- that also integrates the anti-lock brakes and traction control, and to which is added the help in the braking on slopes and a dynamic power steering system to facilitate turning of the front axle. This is in progress, because when stopped it has an anti-theft system with digital coding.

The soundtrack of the trip will have as an accomplice the brand's premium audio system, six speakers through which the music will be played via USB (a success) or Bluetooth from our phone.
