• Other Information: Christopher Anthony John "Chris" Martin (Devon, UK, March 2, 1977) is an English singer, songwriter and musician, vocalist and instrumentalist for the band Coldplay.
• Chris Martin was born in Exeter, Devon and is the eldest of five siblings. His father, Anthony, was a Chartered Accountant, and his mother, Alison, was a music teacher. Martin was baptized in Whitestone, Devon and attended Exeter Cathedral School. It was at a prep school that Martin formed his first band, The Rocking Honkies, with Nick Repton and Iwan Gronow. After Exeter Cathedral, Martin went on to study at the Sherborne School, a school for independent boys in Dorset. At Sherborne, Martin formed a blues band called The Rockin' Honkies. His debut performance was met with boos from the audience. He also met future Coldplay manager Phil Harvey at school. Martin continued his studies at University College London, also studying at Ramsay Hall where he read Ancient World Studies and graduated as First Student of the class in Greek and Latin.
