[Animals] Jorge Alesanco: the man accepted by a pride of lions

He was a child who was only lifting a few feet off the ground when, during a visit to the National Museum of Natural Sciences, his gaze met that of some lions that were exposed. Since then, Jorge Alesanco (Madrid, 52 years old) feels that “there is a ray of energy” that connects him with these felines: “I was very inspired by the fact that I was almost flush with the lions. Since then Africa was my dream and the lion was already the animal of the king of animals. I had an absolute impression of the perfection of these animals, of the power they radiate, of the absolute force that their taxonomy has ”. As an adult, he attends the interview on Thursday, November 11, next to that same window, which continues to inspire him. Trained as a naturalist and ethologist, he believes that this ray of energy has led them to be together in nature: he has lived since 2007 in the Masai Mara (Kenya) very close to them, who have accepted him as one of the herd . Now, together with the director Regis Francisco López, he has collected that experience over eight chapters in El rey de la sabana, a documentary series premiered on La 2 this Sunday, the day of the week on which the other seven will be broadcast at 20.30.
